Charles Gounod so admired Bach as a composer that he wrote this beautiful melody as his "Ave Maria" - arranged by Len Rhodes for flute, clarinet and piano.
Gounod's piano accompaniment is the C major Prelude by Johann Sebastian Bach from Book 1 of his 48 Preludes and Fugues.
