Bach’s Trio Sonata in E minor, BWV 528 was composed in Leipzig c. 1727, whilst Bach was in the position of Kantor at the Thomaskirche.
Originally scored for oboe d’amore, viola da gamba and continuo. Bach was often vague with his instrumentations, often simply designating two melodic parts with continuo/harpsichord.
